TELLSAFE FOR YOUTH SPORTS
Anonymous feedback for youth sports
Updated .
Parents and volunteers may hesitate to question a coach or board member. Offer a private route for feedback about the team experience, explain who reads it, and keep safeguarding and urgent reporting routes clearly visible.
Where the conversation starts
Family experience
Ask about schedules, communication, accessibility, and whether families feel welcome at practices and games.
Volunteer support
Hear about training gaps, workloads, and concerns that are difficult to raise with a coach directly.
Clear reporting choices
Publish a designated reviewer and an independent backup for concerns about leadership. Explain review hours and separate required abuse reporting from routine feedback.
A private concern can become a useful conversation.
With Anonymous Relay mode, organizers can ask for details and share an update. The member can answer back while their relay email address stays hidden from the organizer. A plain anonymous submission is also available when they prefer no reply.
Illustrative conversation
Member: Parents are afraid that questioning the schedule will affect their child's playing time.
Organizer: Thank you for raising this. Which part of our communication could we improve? Please avoid naming children here.

Frequently asked questions
Does TellSafe replace SafeSport or required abuse reporting?
No. TellSafe adds to, and does not replace, SafeSport or other required abuse reporting. Do not wait for an inbox reply or internal investigation before making a required report. Use the U.S. Center for SafeSport reporting page linked above for its scope and reporting routes.
Can youth sports families receive anonymous replies?
With Anonymous Relay, organizers can reply without seeing the sender's relay email address. TellSafe processes that address for delivery; details in a message can still identify someone. Plain Anonymous submissions have no reply route.
How should a club invite young people to give feedback?
Check TellSafe's age requirements and your consent and privacy procedures before inviting minors. Use age-appropriate prompts, avoid unnecessary personal details, explain confidentiality limits, and offer a trusted adult and safeguarding contact alongside the form.
